Japan

For these paintings, Caroline drew inspiration from Japan. Both the Iris Ensata and the Ginkgo leaf are rich in symbolic meaning.

IRIS ENSATA

The Japanese iris symbolizes purity and elegance, as well as strength and courage. Its graceful flowers and sword-shaped leaves represent a warrior’s spirit. Additionally, the iris is linked with good news and is often used to mark and celebrate positive life events.

The base of these paintings is a mix of sand and acrylic paint, giving them a robust and natural appearance. The background is painted white. You can see silver and copper leaf, along with details of gold-colored paint and paint splatters.

GINKGO LEAVES

The inspiration for these paintings comes from the leaf of the Japanese Ginkgo tree. It is revered in many Asian cultures and is often associated with peace, endurance, and longevity. The Ginkgo leaf inspires Caroline with its soft lines and natural form, which are both beautiful and calming.

Rather than using the actual color of the leaf, she has drawn inspiration from its shape for all three paintings.

RESILIENCE

In this painting, a palette knife was used extensively. The leaves are painted somewhat wildly, and coloring outside the lines was intentional. It’s a work where “colorful and lively” is important. The background is a mix of white and sand colors, and for the leaves, orange, red, pink, gold, and white, as well as combinations of these colors, were used. Copper leaf is incorporated into the leaves, and there are many paint splatters.

In the series of paintings on the theme of Ginkgo leaves, this work is ‘the wild one.’

Price: € 695,- / size: 30 cm X 40 cm.
